MET-TRACK AND THE CORONA VIRUS OUTBREAK
As a result of the latest announcement from Government that all schools will be closed as of Friday 20th March, all Met-Track sessions have had to stop until further notice. I realise this is a huge blow to a lot of people, not least the young people we work with, their teachers, parents, and the coaches who have so tirelessly delivered over the months and years of our existence.
Met-Track has become one of the most successful youth diversion schemes in London, and we are determined that, after the current emergency is resolved, we will be able to continue helping the hundreds of vulnerable young Londoners who engage with our project every single year.
Both Operations Manager Matthew Threadgold and I obviously very sincerely hope this is not the definitive end of Met-Track, and that we will return the minute the Government gives the all-clear for activities to restart. It is, however, an unprecedented and unpredictable situation. We live in challenging times, especially having learned from our main supporter, the National Lottery Community Fund, that they will no longer be able to fund us after August this year - a huge blow unless we can find additional funding from another source.
For the time being though, Matthew and I would lie to wish all our young people, their teachers and, most of all the Met-Track coaches who have done such a fantastic job for us thus far, a safe and above all healthy number of weeks ahead.
