Crystal Palace (2012 Day) - Met-Track
Met-Track coaches and staff championed an event at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Sunday August 24th as the Olympic Games in Beijing came to a close over 7000 miles away. A 'raising the flag' ceremony featuring the London 2012 emblem took pace in the main stadium, and was built into a fun day in which local young people had the chance to get coached by international athletes.
As the pictures indicate, we had the full range of ages from probably the youngest young person to exit a set of blocks at any stadium ever, to the slightly more mature and experienced young sportsmen and women. A great time was had by all, with awards given to the hardest workers on the day. All credit also to Greenwich Leisure Limited for the organisation.
Crystal Palace was one of a number of major venues nationwide to celebrate the official handing over of the Olympics to London as the Games ended in China.
